JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE) was established in the year 1997 at Bangalore and is under the umbrella of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore. JSSATE is the result of the vision of our President, His Holiness Jagadaguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji to proactively participate in establishing a world class Institution for Technical Education. The Campus is located in a sprawling 21.17 acres land surrounded by lush green plantation on the South-Western edge of Bangalore City. Institution is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, India.
At present JSSATE, Bangalore has seven Under Graduate and four Post Graduate programme in Engineering along a post Graduate programme in Business Administration. All the Departments have been recognised as “research Centres” from VTU, Belagavi. More than 75 candidates are pursuing research programmes at JSSATE, Bangalore. The total strength of students is more than 2600.
JSSATE, Bangalore has an excellent infrastructure with the state-of-the art equipment and machinery as laboratory facilities. The Institution has spacious classrooms and the laboratories. The whole building is networked and has centralized browsing facility with 50 Mbps dedicated internet facility. Entire college has Wi-Fi facility.
The Institute has highly qualified faculty. The Institute has initiated number of multi disciplinary and multi-Institutional R&D programmes with AICTE, DST and other Departments. Under the R & D activity, the Institute has taken up the design and fabrication of BIO-Diesel plant in collaboration with an industry and it is sponsored by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. This was recognized as one of the best completed project and same is being replicated in different states.
The Institute has a centralized library with open access facility for students. The Institute Digital library has on-line access to International journals. Book bank facility is available for students.

The Department is headed by Dr. Aravind H S, M.Tech, Ph. D The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in the year 1997 with an intake of 60. Presently the intake of the Department is 120. Department was accredited in the year 2007 for 03 years. Presently the department is applying for accreditation (2015-2016).
The Post Graduate M. Tech Course in VLSI Design & Embedded System was started in the year 2006 with an intake of 18 students.
The Department has well equipped laboratories, Departmental Library, IEEE-JSSATE Student Branch and IETE Student Forum. Department is strengthened by well qualified faculty members whose main aim is to make students aware of the cutting edge technology with competence, commitment & team work.
Electronics & Communication Engineering Department offers an excellent infrastructure for both Under Graduate and Post Graduate Degree with a separate ECE Academic block. A continuous interaction with industries is established through sponsored projects & industrial visits.Invited lectures are organized regularly in the field of emerging technologies from industry and Academic experts. Also, IEEE technical fest is organized every year to provide platform for the students to exhibit their talents.
Industrial visits are organized as a part of the curriculum. The projects are carried out by the students in industries and in the Department, covering all aspects of Electronics and Communication Engineering field. Soft skills programs are conducted through Placement cell to improve the overall personality development of the students.
The department faculties have published around 55 journals & 117 conference papers. Around 20 faculties have registered to pursue higher qualification in Ph.D degree under VTU & Other Universities. Two non teaching staffs’ members are pursuing B.E under VTU & other universities.
Research and Development Centre of Electronics & Communication Engineering department was approved on July 2014. The R&D centre caries out fundamental research in selected areas of Power & control engineering, Signal & image processing, VLSI, Communication etc., Fifteen research scholars have registered in the department R&D centre. The R&D centre has the required number of computers, internet facility, cadence software & the measuring instruments. Most of the research scholars have completed course work & comprehensive viva.

The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was established in the year 1997 for facilitating training in Instrumentation Engineering under Bangalore University. Presently, it is offering under graduate course in E & IE to cater curriculum as prescribed by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka, India. The Department is currently headed by Dr. D. Mahesh Kumar.
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is a multi-disciplinary undergraduate programme which deals with Science and Technology. The department is recognized as VTU research centre from 2011. Presently five research scholars have registered for Ph.D in the centre.
In today’s world of technological advancements, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering plays a vital role in aircraft instrumentation and control, digital signal processing, biomedical instrumentation and processing, distributed control systems, process controls and automation, robotics, embedded systems, MEMS technology etc.
The department when started in 1997, was affiliated to Bangalore University with an intake of 60 students. Since 1998, it is affiliated to VTU, Belagavi. Being one of the key departments, it has a student population of 240 who learn to develop methods of measuring, processing and controlling of signals in various process industries. The students also learn the latest technologies like VLSI design and communication systems along with programming skills to stay in par with Electronics and IT industries. Knowing the ever growing importance and fast changing technical requirements, we have set up laboratories with state of the art facilities to give an in-depth exposure to the students on practical aspects. They are also trained in calibration and use of automated equipments. The department provides exclusive library facilities for the students.
The Department has well qualified faculty who are expert enough in different specializations and are supported by qualified technical staff. We have got a student faculty ratio of 26:1.
The department has a professional students’ association “INSTRA” – Instrumentation Association under which a techno-cultural fest “Anantham” and a State Level Project Exhibition & Technical Paper Presentation “Sanrachana” are organized every year.
